I have a bcf and find that it is more than sufficient! Sliders are indeed very nice because you can control more than 2 at once, and you still get 8 rotary knobs anyway - plus these are divided into 4 encoder groups which can easily and quickly be switched giving you 32 knob options. It's very nice and easy to use with resolume - can't imagine trying to control as precisely with all rotary knobs. I would say start with a bcf, and if you still need more rotary knobs, get a bcr.
