Resolume with Artnet Control

Hi,
Earlier this week I did my first gig combining Video output with Ambient lighting (to create the backdrop for a small gig at out students union -- karaoke of all things..) I was using resolume as a media server, matching the video with colour from some LED pars from the lighting desk. We were very impressed with the effect, and had loads of comments about how "upmarket" and "professional" it looked. Most of the night, it was doing nice slow crossfades between video clips, and matching LED colour.
There's some photos of the rig at http://gallery.slashhome.com/gallery/karaoke080207

However at one point the DJ started a short dance set, and my underlying Lighting instinct kicked in and I sped thing up a bit. However I noticed that transitions in resolume were noticably lagging behind the LED's, not by much (I'd guess probable at most .5s) but enough to annoy me!

I was wondering if other people had noticed this lag as well (although I'm still investigating to see if somthing in my lighting desk programming could have caused it).

Resolume PC
resolume v2.4
Thinkpad T43 -- 2.3Ghz Pentium4 Mobile, 512Mb ram, internal SATA laptop drive.
DMX patch was of my own construction, using about 70 channels IIRC

Lighting Desk
Chamsys MagicQ PC (on a Thinkpad T23) controlling resolume via ArtNet, and LED pars via DMX

Video clips are a mostly of Indeo 5.0

There might be a difference in how fast the DMX signals travel via ArtNet to Resolume and how fast the DMX signals get to the LED pars via regular DMX cable. Is there any way you could check this?

Hi

I should be able to get hold of an ArtNet->DMX converter (IE so both resolume and the LEDs leave the desk via artnet) and will see how that performs.

IIRC I should also be able to get the artnet thing that appears on the taskbar to display channel values as they arrive, so I'll see if I can compare how they display against resolume responding. We're doing a similar gig tomorrow so hopefully I'll have some time to play once I've got the rig setup, and will report back on Friday!
