mini portable projector

Hello,

I am trying to put together an art installation. I use projectors/resolume to display media in unconventional ways.

I am looking to get a mini portable projector for this installation. Something lightweight and small so that it could be hidden or fit in smaller spaces. An example would be the Samsung Freestyle.

It seems most of them are not set up to be external monitors and only have preloaded apps for streaming content.

Does anyone have experience in using this field in using resolume pick-up mini projectors?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Jamal,
as long as a projector has a physical HDMI input, it can absolutely be used as an external display regardles of whether it also runs a special OS or builtin apps.

The Samsung Freestyle, for example, does support external HDMI sources via its micro-HDMI input. You just need a micro HDMI to HDMI adapter or cable. Once connected to a computer or media server running software like Resolume it will behave like any other monitor or projector displaying whatever signal is sent to it.

So yes.....the Freestyle and similar mini projectors can definitely be used in creative workflows involving Resolume.

Not long ago I've also build something out of a bunch of mini projectors.... for that project I used some older Philips PicoPix Max projectors.

So short...If a mini projector does has an hdmi / mini hdmi input you can use it with Resolume.

best wishes

Hey Cosmowe,

Thanks for your advice! I did some more homework, and I see how it's possible. The Philips PicoPix Max projectors look interesting, and I will look into them.

Thanks so much for your help!
