Strobe control with LaunchControl XL mk2 - Best practice?

Hi everyone!
I recently got a Novation LaunchControl XL mk2 and I'm trying to figure out the best way to handle strobe effects in Resolume. This is my first MIDI controller so I'm still learning the best workflows.
I'd like to trigger a strobe effect using a button on my controller - ideally a clean WHITE-BLACK strobe.
Solutions I've tried
-Gives me a clean WHITE-BLACK strobe
-Works reliably regardless of which layer I'm currently on
-Can be triggered easily from my MIDI controller
Since this is my first controller, I'd also appreciate any general tips on best practices for setting up effect controls in Resolume with MIDI devices.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Solutions I've tried
- Option 1: Dedicated strobe layer on top
My first idea was to create a layer above all others with strobe generators. The problem is that when I trigger this layer from lower layers, Resolume jumps back to the initial layers, hiding the layers I'm working on further down, which is very boring
- Option 2: Strobe effect in Composition tab
I tried adding a strobe effect in the Composition tab, keeping it bypassed by default, then triggering it with my controller (using "piano" trigger mode to toggle bypass on/off). This works better BUT the strobe cycles between WHITE and the COMPOSITION content, not WHITE-BLACK as I need.
