Dual monitor problems

I have finally managed to get a friend interested in VJing and Resolume after showing him what can be done. He has installed the demo of 2.41 which works reasonably well considering the low spec of his laptop, but when I try to set up a full screen output to a tv monitor via s-video the laptop crashes and turns itself off. He is running Vista on a Toshiba core 2 duo laptop with 1gb ram and an integrated graphics card, I am not sure about the exact spec. I know this system is far from ideal but it runs surprisingly well with the demo footage and a few effects. Has anyone got any ideas why the dual output wont work when Resolume seems very stable just using the laptop screen? I am trying to convince my friend to start VJing with me and he is considering getting a better laptop but he is worried that a better laptop might have the same problem. Does anyone have any solutions or suggestions?

Hi Manwell,
Vista is known to cause problems. We haven't tested Resolume on Vista ourselves yet. So we don't guarantee that it will work. Your best bet is to run xp on that laptop. It's not the perfect solution but we know Resolume works very well in xp.

Cheers
Edwin

Thanks for the reply, i thought that might be the answer. Everything I have tried with vista doesn't work and everyone I have talked to about it has had major problems. I will try to buy a copy of xp but it is getting quite difficult to find in the UK. Just as a matter of interest will the next version of Resolume be more Vista-compatible and will any of the new technology or features in Vista benefit Resolume and VJing in general?

I use Resolume on Vista myself with the compability set up as XP and it works fine for me. I use a Sony VGN-FZ21M without any problems, so in your case it could be a problem caused by the laptop or videocard. Maybe buying a new, better laptop will solve the problem indead.
