Okay... We are allways looking for the best codec options, etc.
I know that some of you like Quicktime. Others, Indeo, etc.
Well.. I´ve been working with CINEFORM HD and Resolume for a while and I am very happy with it.
Now I heard about PIC Video MJPEG and that there´s no best option to work with Resolume.
I just installed and configured as the manual says.
First test....
001.avi (CINEFORM HD) is 200.000kb
001.avi (PIC MJPEG v.3) is 900.000kb
I need no further tests. ; )

Anyone else? Comments?

we looked @ mjpeg but due to file size we chose to go with indeo.

the mjpeg files were 2 to 3 times the size and the qulity wasent as good as our indeo tests.

I must say that indeo 5.10 codec works fine, it's free and doesn't create very big files, so using this codec and files that aren't that big we have a very stable set up using resolume.

Indeo is indeed a great codec. But the PICvideo MJPEG codec has a slightly better image quality while decompressing (playback) is more or less as fast as indeo. This is especially noticeable when your footage contains sharp contrasts with red.

Because mjpeg uses no temporal compression every frame is always a key-frame so the file size might be a bit bigger but you get a very consistent playback speed with scratching or paying files backwards.

And the picvideo codec does real-time compression so you can use it with the record function is resolume and get much smaller files and a lot less frames are dropped.

Note that the default values of the picvideo mjpeg codec are not the best for resolume so have a look in our manual for details on how to use the picvideo codec.

so if i'm using as advised and i want to save on the file size how should i render it if the projector output is 1024X768 ?

half: 512 X 384 ? this way resolum has to scale it only X2

It's probably best to stick to a 'standard' resolution like 640x480 or if you have a really fast computer you could do a test with PAL 768x576.

just as a heads up make sure you find an installer for indeo 5.1 if and when you change to vista

I am using the PICvideo with 640x480 resolution, for about an year and always work flawless, thanks God.
