Hallo all, i am a semi-new Resolume Arena, now using 7.23.2 release

I am having
- Several clips organized in columns
- 1 out -> video processor -> 4 different displays

All is organized with slices, so i can show different clips on different screens / one clip on multiple screens or whatever as i want from time to time

Now, my problem:

I can apply effects to a clip or to a layer, but if I would like to apply an effect to the COMPOSITION it does not have any effect, due i am publishing my contents in slices

I have read this forum and spend million of hours with copilot/preplexity/chatgpt even in pro version, receiving only crap answers mainly based on older resolume releases; i did experiments with router but no way: can someone help me how i should organize my project to have an effect on the WHOLE COMPOSITION and not on single layers/clips?? Thank you very much and sorry for my newbie question.

I'm not sure. If I completely understand you but if you use a slice effect on a layer. It will still go to the Compositions. The Compositions is what ends up in the advanced output en is send to your videos splitter. The Compositions layer can still have effect on it. I made you a quick video. 1st of all, of course THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your answer

BUT

i did several experiments with the "slice transform" effect, but is is impossible to me to populate the "slice" pulldown of the effect: if i pit it on a layer i see the 1st clip on all the slices, nothing else

and if i place any effect on the "composition" tab i see the effect in the preview monitor, but non in the real output

very important note: i am using 7.23 version, i have read that a lot of things have changed

So if I understand you correctly, you now have it set up so that layer one will send to slice one layer 2 to slice two et cetera. And you set this up in the advanced output on the slice input. Indeed in this way you circumvent the competition effects because you sent from a layer straight to the output the best way to tackle it is to do what I did in the movie and use the slice transform effect on a layer.

PS make sure that in the inputs of your slices in the advanced output are set to composition

1st of all I was taking input from layers, now i have switched to composition (placing clips in right places instead one over the other) and NOW it works

I can still easily place an effect on a single slice, or even a single clip, but now i can apply effects to the whole composition in one move too (and manage 'em via an hardware device)

Once you have understood is obvious, but i had to smash my face in it

And now i have learned very much better how to use the "slice transform" tool, so thank you very much for this also
