I've heard well of the Dell Inspirons 8200 or 8500. Personally I've bought a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo D, P4 2,4GHz, 256DDRAM, Ati 9000, USB2.0, Firewire, DVD-CDRW Combo. I had to search for it a lot and finally found an excellent deal (1700 euros). The Dell are slightly more expensive and I was looking for something with the Ati card (I've had better experiences with ati than with nvidia).
Other laptops are coming out now and the ati 9700 mobile is out!
bye

I'm afraid I can't recommend the Inspiron 8200... at least with the Geforce 4 440 Go video card set... if they still use that. I have been having problems using it with Resolume and it seems at least one other person on these boards has as well.

Alienware.com ...
I have an area 51-M and it handles resolume perfectly... with both an svideo out and a dualmontior out you can choose if you want to use a higher quality scan converter or svideo out.. the card is a 64 meg ati video card...(puts out the heat!) the theater mode works like MAtrox overlay feature. plus getting those color options helps ya look cooler! : )
