I'm just migrating from win to mac and I wonder which codec i should chose and where i can get it from. Maybe one of can give me an advice?

Futhermore, I need a powerful audio/video converter like "Xilisoft Converter".

MJPEG seems to be pretty popular but I'm no expert on Codecs. If you still own a PC I suggest using Livid Instruments Batch Processor. Otherwise there are a number of converters out there. Try searching vjforums.com. If only need to convert a few videos, then I would suggest using quicktime
