Is there a way to crossfade clips? I love the software and midicontrol, but I don't like rough cuts or slamming.

use the layers. Put a clip in each layer, and use the "alpha" transparency mode to fade a clip in over the top of another.

If you use a midi controler with dials or sliders you can assign them to control each alpha slider - wow 3 crossfaders........
