we use 320x240 avi's and flash.
For most club work it's fine (also the matrox card has a "smooth-output" function which helps get rid of pixels.
Often this is mixed through a hardware mixer with camera/vhs or dvd to give a higher res layer.

We use 400x300 indeo xp footage. The 400x300 output works great on our CORIOscan Connect+ scanconverter, great results! Changing to full DV when the new compu arrives though.

more and more people r gradually making their new footage at 400x300 with the indeo codec ... allthough it does not seem much it does give a noticable better image quality ... but try and see if your computer can handle this when running 3 layers (if overlaying is your style)

what specs (do you think) are required to run at full Dv?

320x240.avi Indeo5 85% (every frame a keyframe)
works fine for me on a 2.4Ghz laptop
looks pretty good once projected
I'm interested in 400x300, this is just for a bit of extra resolution, right? Do you use it with 320x240 or exclusively?

the main reason we run 320x240 is to not have to undock the output window use a second monitor.

I think it depends of how do you handle the secondary output. If you use the DVD Max feature it makes no sense to use a higher resolution then 320x240. If you use the dual-screen feature and set the original resolution for calculation to a higher one it makes sense. But with the DVD-Max you have a smooth picture, because the harware does the stretching calculations with interpolation.
My footages are in 320x240, 384x288 and 400x300...
