I can't play video correctly with resolume avenue, the framerat is around 20 fps for 1 layer without sound, in 640x480 encoded with mjpeg codec.
With two layer or more, I'm always under 15 fps
Hardware : core2duo 2ghz, vista 32, 4gb RAM, 7200 rpm hard drive, ATI X1600.
Tried with a lot of codec (photo jpeg, dv, animation... etc) : same shit
Great software, but if it doens't paly video correctly, uh, I can't use it only for sound function

What MJPEG codec do you use? PICvideo? Also, AVI is faster than MOV on Vista.
We have seen that Vista is a LOT slower than XP, so we would recommend installing XP on your computer.

Yes I am using the Picvideo MJPEG 3 codec.
Unfortunately I can't install XP on my computer because Asus didn't make drivers for the model I use.
Vista is generally slower than XP, but with 4GB memory, a 7200 RPM hard drive, a readyboost drive and all visual effects off, Vista is more stable than XP, and even faster than XP with a good configuration.
In all case XP is an old system now, I think it is better to try to solve problem with Vista, who is now installed with all new PC, and XP drivers are no longer supported.

Have you made sure to disable 'advanced deblocking' in the PicVideo options?

I'm using Resolume 3 with Vista, and getting 24 fps for 3 layers with effects.

Granted, it's a Core 2 Duo at 2.8Ghz, with an ATI FireGL card - I'd expect quicker. I wonder where the Vista bottleneck lies?

(Update) So I ran Resolume 3 on my older XP-based system (Athlon dual-core at 2.2Ghz) and got about the same framerate, 24fps. Resolume 3 seems to be extremely sensitive to changing the clip size, more so than Resolume 2.41.

So yeah, Vista does seem to impose a substantial performance penalty.

Incidentally, Resolume 2.41 runs at 26fps on the XP based system, and 40 fps on the Vista system, with the same footage. So I suspect Resolume 3 is still missing some major optimizations... Other DirectX based VJ software managed much, much higher framerates.
