video sources not coming up

hi guys - congratulations on the release.

one question at the moment - in version 2, my camera was recognized as an input source, but in the beta, no input devices are recognized - just empty placeholders that say "device0" "device1", etc.

- any advice to help getting r3 to recognize my camera driver as it does in version 2?

thanks

My camera turns up as a source labelled "device0", but it works fine.

well thanks for the reply i suppose, but it doesn't help much :P

- and hmm, there is exactly zero info in "the manual" regarding input sources....damn

- well this totally shuts down most of what i use resolume for, so i hope there is some helpful advice coming...

btw, i'm using xp-pro, service pack 3 - all updated drivers....and yep, resolume 2 still recognizes the camera no problems

- thanks.

Good point, more info would be useful.

I am running Res 3 on Windows Vista SP1, the camera is the Lenovo Integrated Camera on a thinkpad. It appears as 'device0' in the sources. It does take it a moment to appear when dragged to the deck.

It would be nice if the camera settings were accessible from within Resolume, as mirroring and exposure controls would be very helpful.

If you drag device0 or device1 to a clip it should work but we know we have some work to do to make it a bit clearer.

ok - success.

after dragging device2 to a clip, it worked, but then the program crashed and would not run anymore at all - I uninstalled, rebooted, and re-installed and still it would not run.

Then I deleted the config.xml file in the documents folder - and that worked - it opened successfully and it recognizes the camera now. (???)

- With regard to the previous comment - I didn't have a problem understanding to drag the device to a clip, that seemed clear enough - but when none of the devices came up with my camera input that was what threw me off.

So - no explanation for the glitch, but hopefully this can help someone who tries to reinstall and finds that the program still crashes - be aware that the config file is not removed during uninstall...so either rename it, edit it, or delete it as part of the process to getting things working again.

best regards, trevor

I have the same problem too.
The device is listed but when I drag and select it nothing comes out in the output.
I am using a Dazzle 100 Analogue to Digital converter as the video input. Works fine in other software.
This is a pretty bad problem seeing as it is meant to work for a play using VJ stuff and live video next week.
Oh well

combover,

- remember that even though you have droped the device onto a clip, you need to click once on that clip to see it in your preview pane.

- the actual camera or source input does not show in the clip thumbnail or the the layer thumbnail - only in the preview pane. the clip and layer thumbnails just show an image of an old camera

Trevor,

Thanks for the advice but I am well aware of that.
I have it working fine with another webcam but not with my CCTV camera and Analogue digital converter.
