Hi Folks,

I just got a refurbished macbook pro (last version - all silver) and Im just installing XP using bootcamp. does anyone know if its possible to install 2 versions of XP using Bootcamp?

ideally i want 3 seperate Operating systems on my macbook pro. OSX, XP for production, and a stripped down XP for Resolume 2.4.

also will resolume 3 run slower if i have a ton of production applications etc on OSX?

thanks

So I did some research and it seems Bootcamp can only install 1 operating system other than OSX so triple booting is not supported in Bootcamp.

Triple or even quadruple booting is possible using rEFIT http://refit.sourceforge.net/
This program is a bootloader that you install which is capable of detecting different OS's including linux and booting from it. Apparently XP has to be the last partion on the hard drive to boot on a mac.

I'm going to attempt to install 2 versions of XP using rEFIT - making it a triple boot system and see if it works.

My first attempt at installing 2 versions of XP was unsuccessful. XP has to be installed on the last partition of the Macbook Pro or it will not boot.

I've finally created a triple booting Macbook Pro running OSX, Vista 32bit, and XP. I'm using a lite version of Vista for my production needs and XP for resolume 2.41

Here's how I got the triple boot running.

Step 1:
Add 2 FAT MSDOS partitions using disk utility in OSX. You now have 3 partitions in total. 1st partition for OSX, 2nd Partition for Vista and 3rd partition for XP. Make sure the XP partition is the last one.

Install refit http://refit.sourceforge.net/

Step 2:
Boot from your VISTA DVD and install it into partition 2. You can format the partition to NTFS if you wish.

Step 3:
Once Vista is installed go into ControlPanel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Disk Management
right click on your XP partition and "mark partition as active".

Step 4:
Boot from your XP disc and install into partition 3.

Step 5.
When you boot into VISTA you will get an error on screen it will eventually load VISTA . To fix the error follow these instructions. http://www.lancelhoff.com/2008/09/29/un ... -drive-80/

Step 6. Install bootcamp drivers from your OSX disc to both operating systems. enjoy!
