direct midi mapping... found a way to save it

ive been trying to assign the direct midi mapping to trigger clips with an empty composition, but every time i restart, the mapping is lost.... but i have found a solution!
if you load videos first and THEN assign the mapping to the clips in direct mapping mode and then save it.... the mappings are still there the next time you restart Avenue

you can then load different videos in to the same slots and the mapping still works.
not sure if this is a bug or just the way its supposed to work ( although i dont see why it shouldnt work assigning it to an empty deck )
im on a pc on xp service pack 2 btw.... just in case that helps to find why its happening

ok, so it seems that if there is are videos loaded when you save it, the direct midi mapping is also saved, so you can either assign, then load videos and save, or load videos then assign and save.... either way, the mapping still works when Avenue is reloaded
loaded videos seems to be the key.

Ok this works for me also. Direct mappings to clips (keyboard or midi) are stored if a clip is loaded. But what about the other mappable functions like the bpm tap? Here you can't load a clip to force resolume remember your mapping.

There seems to be a lot of confusion about direct and contextual mapping.
Direct mapping is only for directly triggering specific clips or adjust specific parameters. Note that even when you move a clip in the deck the direct mapping assigned to that clip is maintained.
Contextual mapping allows you to assign a midi or keyboard key to a clip slot and it will always trigger the clip in that slot no mater what clip is in it at that moment.
For more details have a look at the MIDI chapter in the manual:
http://www.resolume.com/avenue/manual/
Note that since rev1110 you can map the entire deck in contextual mode by setting the focus to Deck instead of Layer:

hi bart!
What for example is about the bpm tap function? In resolume 2 I used to map it to the space bar of my keyboard. In resolume 3 it is only mappable in the direct mapping. But if I map it and save my composition resolume won't remember it when I open it again. The same happens for example for the layer selection in direct mapping mode.

Hey Bart... feature request time

when you in Direct or Context midi mapping, you can RMB click a controll, you can create a controller short cut, and a note shortcut... with the CC you can change the controller number, but you cant change the note number.
cheers,

wasn't this solved already?
For me it works great with the contextual mapping in "decks" mode
