Play loops without being assigned to bpm ?

Is there any way I can just trigger videos/loops to be played without them being assigned to a BPM ?

I'm interested in using Resolume 3 for a stage show, and need to play loops/videos on the fly @ their original speed?

Then Resolume 3 is exactly what you need because -as far as I know- every clip is triggered by it's own speed by default. When you load a new clip in resolume it'll always start playing by it's own speed, not the BPM speed. When you like.. you could set it to BPM sync, but if you won't.. just load it and assign it to it's own layer.

You could also set the trigger mode to "piano" in Resolume 3, that's really like if you where playing a videopiano.. clips only show when you hold the keys.

By default an audio clip is loaded in BPM Sync mode, if you want it to play at it's own speed you need to set the clip transport to Timeline instead of BPM Sync.

hehehe :D ... I really thought it was the other way around... my bad.. :)

[edit] hehe... Now at home.. i had to try it out.. But sorry Bart.. I was actually right.. Default is Timeline.. not BPM sync ;) (Topicstarter asked for video/loops and those are always timeline by default)

Maybe it's different for audio (that should be in BPM sync for sure).. i'm not using the audiofeature in avenu (for now)

Yeah video files without audio are loaded in timeline mode by default, video files with audio are loaded in BPM Sync mode ;-)

Is there a default to keep the audio in the same key when your clip is sped up or slowed down?
In standard DJ software I think this is the preferred default setting.
I went and key matched all my clips, but if the two clips are different BPM and you sync them, one clip is out of key. So that kinda defeats all that work.
It would be nice to juxtapose 2 or more clips in the same key without having to re-edit them all to the same BPM.
This would allow for some serious on the fly, mashup experimentation.

The program has ran pretty sweet for me and I am completely jazzed for future upgrades.

I'm using a Macbook Pro 2.16GHz, 3 GB RAM

BPM Override

Could an override or setting be added to composition so that the defaults for bpm / timeline can be overridden.
For example I might want all clips with audio content to be set as timeline by default - and do not want to go through and do this manually clip for clip ...

It would be great if we could choose in preferences how clips are loaded, BPM Sync or Timeline mode.

I would like all of my clips loaded in BPM Sync mode.

cheers

Guys this is just a polite bump - for me it would still great to be able to set a global override for transport for the way clips are loaded - in many instances I would not require my audio to be defaulted to BPM synch - which is the current format. I would like to be able to set an override to stop this...

Also if I add audio to a clip with video - the transport is converted to BPM - in many instances I do not require BPM synched audio - because I am playing anything from audio with no bpm up to XXX bpm...
