previewing a clip "can sometimes" clear the main output

im going to play around tonight to try and be a bit more exact and ill try to get a screenshot, but the problem is roughly as follows....

sometimes, when the layers have been re-arranged ( ie not in the original 1,2,3,ect order ) when i add a clip to a layer and the layer is bypassed, when i preview it, the output becomes blank until i clear that layer, even though it is bypassed and shouldnt affect the main mix. this happened quite a few times to me over the weekend ( i did the best part of 25 hours vjing over 2 days )

We have seen this happen too, very rarely so it's really hard to reproduce ;-(
Please do let us know when you have a way to reproduce it.

just had a very quick play and i can make it do it at will now... so i guess i have worked it out...

i used the demo deck to check it, with a 3 layer composition.

play a clip on layer 1
move layer 2 up, so it is the top layer.
press the B button on layer 2 ( the top layer )
load a clip into the layer
now click the bottom of the layer 2 clip to preview it.
the main output is now blank and will stay this way until you clear layer 2 ( the top one )

now any time a clip is loaded in to layer 2 ( the top layer ) if the layer is bypassed the composition output will be blank, even if its not being previewed.

and in this example ( not sure if it happens every time ) the video that is showing up in the preview is not the one being previewed, but is the one that should be going to the main output

I get the exact same behaviour when following these steps.

Actually, I get similar behaviour without moving the layer:

* Play clip in layer 1
* Click the B on layer 2
* Play clip on layer 2
* Click the name of the clip on layer 2 to preview it

When doing this, I get the same behaviour as when following VJAirs steps above.

The same thing happens if I preview layer 2 rather than the clip that is playing on it.

As soon as the layer is taken off Bypass, the preview and main output work as expected.

I guess there is an unwanted interaction between the bypass and preview features.

Dan.
