I'm trying to assign 3 faders to the layers of 1 2 3 {opacity control}.

It works for layer one... however if I select layer 2 and try to edit the opacity control it goes back to layer one. This doesn't make any sense. Why can't have I have a slider for each layer's opacity? This is really frustrating and seems like a major bug

have you tried the composition mapping instead?

That doesn't really "mean" anything to me.

Can you explain further? I'm sort of a noob I guess.

Woah, you're right. Thank you. What's the difference between "application" and "composition" then?

Application mapping is the 'Key' or 'MIDI' map that is stored on the application level. That means that no matter which composition you open those shortcuts will allways be the same. Composition mapping is used to set shorctuts whithin a composition, if you load another composition these settings will be replaced by the shortcuts of the new composition.

Most of the time it's better to use the Application map, and in your case i would suggest you do that as well just to keep it simple. Default it's set to 'Layer' focus (setting is in the mapping panel), that means that if you set up the clip shortcuts those will work for all layers (it allways selects layer 1 when doing the mapping).Set it the focus to 'Deck' you can set the shortcuts of clips for each layer differently ('Deck' focus is the way Resolume 2.x mapping works).

Guys - I have been doing a lot of exploration with midi mapping - what Edwin explains here is really really REALLY useful - but it took some digging to find this. Please can the manual be extended with this quite basic midi mapping information because it will save a lot of time for people who are initially setting up a controller.

I incorrectly assumed that application mapping would have been the Resolume 2.x method - and believed the mapping method to be highly buggy. Now it kind of makes more sense - but if the manual had this explanation it would have saved me a lot of time.

I just got my evolution uc33e and wanted to assign a 'layer-wide' control of speed and position of the clips. but if I assign them - they only work for the selected clip. do I really have to assign each clip with speed / position to make it as I want?
