I am running a live show that includes video audio and visuals

For part of the show I have 3 video clips with audio, that need to be played as part of a dance performance-
The clips audio video clips are 6min, 5mins & 3 min long
i need to run these clips through resolume, and then do Visual in between the live shows
However, I am having major problems as the video is lagging, very significantly- the audio runs fine, but the video jerks and stutters the whole way through
It also happens when I load clips in without sound, the video constantly jerks

I have converted my clips to the DXV codec, Im running a mac book pro 2.5 GHz Intel core 2 duo, 4 gig ram 667 MHz

Most of my clips are in quick time, then I read that AVI works better, so I converted the audio video clips I needed to use to AVI, but the same problem keeps happening

Can anyone help, this is a really big show that i have to run every night, and I really thought that resolume would be able to handle this, but it is just not coping, any help or info would be greatly appreciated, I need to get this show up and running as soon as I can!

what resolution and frame rate are the clips? are they running from an internal or external hard drive?

I think VJair is on to something. My guess would be that your Hard Drive is too slow. Your computer is fast enough, and so is Resolume. Do NOT use avi files unless your are running Resolume with windows. DVX files and quicktime is better when using a mac.

For laptop performances its always best to use an fast external hard drive connect with firewire 800 or eSATA, especially if your clips are in HD resolution. even better is a raid or SSD setup. Internal laptop HD are usually not fast enough especially if they are only 5000rpm. If your video clips are just 640x480 you might be able to get away with a Firewire 400 or USB external drive running at 7200rpm. I use that setup sometimes, but I can't achieve anything better then 23fps when three layers are playing simultaneously.

the resolution of the clips are 640x 480, and I am running them from my internal drive on my computer,
The clips are DXV mov files
I am now running the clips from my external hard drive, which connects via usb, and that seems to be working a bit better- I'll try it out with the full show and see how it goes, thanks so much for your help!

We recommend not using USB but a FireWire connection or even better an eSata connection for better speed (bandwidth).
