3.1.3 running slow/hanging

I just purchased my license for Avenue and am new to the app but I have been learning with 3.1.2 for the last couple of months. I have a new Mac Pro, 8 core 2.93 GHz with two NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 cards and am playing DVX encoded 640x480 QuickTime movies. I updated to 3.1.3 and soon found that Avenue's response to mouse clicks, keyboard commands and MIDI input would start to degrade, eventually becoming unusable. Activity Monitor shows the CPUs are barely doing anything at all and the computer is otherwise quite responsive.

Tonight I reverted back to 3.1.2 and the performance seemed to come back to what I would expect.

What can I provide to help you troubleshoot this apparent issue? Thank you.

640x480 clips shouldn't be a big problem...
But as you write, you use DVX encoded clips? Shouldnt that be DXV? (maybe you mistyped?)

DVX isn't a good format for VJing! Resolume's own DXVcodec should work (probably) flawless... so try to have a look there.
Otherwise you could try to encode with MJPEG codec. For the resolution you use this should be perfect.

Sorry I mistyped. I am using the DXV codec installed and recommended by Avenue.

Hey Wplate

This sounds like strange behaviour indeed. Could you send us the crash log that Avenue creates on your computer? MAC: /Users/[username]/Library/Logs/Resolume Avenue 3 log.txt

Even without it actually crashing, this will help us shed some light on what Avenue is doing under the hood.
