I noticed in the `scrolling` post the mention of using another program`s output as a source. I too use another program a lot that i would love to have come through resolume as it does what it does very well, but it is not a comprehensive vj program like resolume.
This program is Kaleider ( http://whizical.com/ ) and is pretty much entirely dedicated to producing kaleidascope and Mirror effects. The programmer Jeff Holcomb is extremely open to suggestion about extending the program and has implemented midi control , masking, video input and second monitor output after requests. The program is brilliant for it`s very tactile movement through mirrored and kaleidoscope landscapes. What would be incredible would be to be able to take it`s live output and use it as a source for resolume. Is this possible and how could it be achieved, presumeably instead of the output being directed to the second monitor it has to be directed to the equivalent of a video input in Resolume. Would resolume have to have a new type of Source input category for this? Would the program in question then have to be able to write directly to this? Could it be done via a plug-in? best wishes John McGeoch

I can only remember the Matrox MXO2 I saw earlier on CDM.
But you will need to computers (laptop or desktop, doesn't matter).

I had the opportunity to use a card MOTU HD-SDI. However, I am not able to capture video for use with Avenue. I do not know if it is a hardware problem, a driver problem, or Avenue, which does not allow it.

If some people have managed to use the MOTU HD-SDI, I am interested in their experience. Thank you

I'm also interested in using anothers Notebook's output as input in Resolume. I was thinking about a S-Video/Composit to DV converter (e.g. Canopus ADVC series) but have no idea which is the best solution for a reasonable amount of money? Any suggestions? Has anybody experience with this (cheap) RCA to USB "converter?

Another way. What about a streaming solution from one Resolume to another Resolume machine via GBit ethernet? - Are there any plans?

Which one of the Canopus ADVC series? As their prices differ quite a lot.

From what I've seen about the Matrox MXO2 so far, I think it would be the better solution as it is True HD! See my post above.

I'm thinking about the ADVC-55 or 110. Not sure if I need DV to S-Video. Also the twinPact100 looks interesting, as it has VGA in. Thus I could connect the (new) Mac (without scanconverter). Will check the Matrox MXO2 now...

Are there any recommendations from Resolume?

Any plans to implement a "link" feature, which allows to connect two Resolumes to master/slave VJ - would be awesome!

I wasn`t even thinking of an external machine originally, but doing it all on the one machine assuming that the `source ` program wasn`t too heavy on resources and was able to write it`s output to a pseudo second monitor that resolume could treat as a source, however both methods would be good allowing two instances of resolume if necessary with the hardware route. The only way so far on my setup would be VGA out converted to analogue video converted to firewire, too cumbersome by far.

I have a ADVC110 and have been very happy with it so far. Quality is acceptable but it works flawlessly. The cool thing about the 110 is that you can connect two computers to it and it has a video output on the back. If I where to buy another one and not care about going with something of higher quality, I'd buy an ADVC55. The Canopus TwinPact series looks really cool. It captures VGA, svideo, rca, and also doubles as a scan converter.
