Midi interaction btw Resolume and Live

Hello all,
i'm new of the forum and i'm a dj, but i'm interested in visual & co.

I'm engaging to do live set with midi interaction with another friend that is a vj, but our idea have a block, and in all relevant forum's we found a lot of information, sometime confused, sometime not clearly explained, so i opened this thread in order to find clear explanation that can be helpfull for other guys too.

This is the point:
Our Setup:
Laptop N.1 for djing with traktor + ableton Live + Uc 33 [Soundcard: Motu Ultralite]
Laptop N.2 for Vjing whit Resolume + Korg nanokontrol + Novation X-station

I play my set with Traktor Scratch, and in the meanwhile i have ableton live opened with the sampler where i mapped 10 audioclips with some sample voices.
Other guy with resolume, when hit a key on the keyboard of the X-station, launch a clip in resolume in contemporary with one of the sample audio mapped in my sampler.
The Novation X-station is plugged via USB to the laptop for Vjing and via MIDI to the laptop for djing in order to manage both audio and video at same time.

we succesfully mapped into resolume all the clips corrresponding to all the audio sample and the result is that if the sample voice says for example "LONG LIFE TO THE MUSIC", the video show a mouth that say the same thing. This for all different clips video with audio...and this is ok....

But here we found the big problem: What we have to set in order to STOP the video clip when the key of the X-station is OFF??
In fact, until now the only thing that we can do is launch a clip video, and when unpress the key on the x-station, the clip continue in loop but the audio stop...we want that BOTH stop when we unpress the key...

What we want is that the video clip start and stop following the key pression...if i press, audio and video starts; when i leave the key, audio and video stop....
This because is not nice that you ear the audio that say "LONG LI.." and see the mouth that say the whole phrase (the concept is applied to more complex audio and video clips)
we also tryed to reduce the clip with some sort of fade out or transictions, but is not the right way for us....the right way for us is to stryctly merge the launch of clip video/audio sample with the pression of the key

I don't understand if i have to work on X-Station Midi settings or in Resolume preferences (live preference not affect the interaction because we not work with midi clip, but only with midi controller)

I checked to set the options for x-station keyboard in note on/off (?) but is not possible to do this, i checked resolume preferences but i not find nothing that can help me.

Hope i expose the problem in a good way.
Thank's for help and have nice work!

Hey Awakeness

If I understand you correctly, you're looking for piano mode clip triggering. It can be set on a global level in the Composition menu, or on a per clip basis in the cogwheel dropdown of the clip properties.

Hope that helps.

Hey Joris, thanks for your reply.
I don't know exactly what "piano mode clip triggering" does.
Thanks for explaining me how i can set this option, and later i try for sure to activate and test this options.
It's available also in resolume 2.41 or it's only for Resolume avenue?

Thank's, and i hope other can join this topic.

Whoops. Looks like I oversaw which part of the forum you posted this in ;-)

Piano triggerstyle basically means that when you release a key, or stop sending a note, the clip triggered by that note will stop playing and eject (which is actually totally not how a piano works, but let's not get into that).

Unfortunately, as far as I know, this is only possible in Resolume Avenue.
