apologies!
i remember this being mentioned on the discussion board but i can't remember or find the answer.
how can i add an effect without it affecting the output straight away?
i need to be able to fade effects in gradually.
hope some remembers or is just very clever.

One way is to just pull the fx onto a layer before triggering then right clip it and adjust parameters before triggering.

Or set up a global parameter on a F key and set global fx to 0 opacity, then you have a quick key fx trigger. ideally if you use a midi controller, you can fade it in via midi.

Or save prefrences for the effect with it at 0 so by default it starts inactive

thanks!
but i seem to remember there's a key you can hold while you drag the effect on which does the job for you.

or have i just imagined that?

"when you drag an effect while holding down the ALT key the effect is applied with alpha set to 0. so you can fade the effect in nicely.

this also applies to shortcuts, using ALT+shortcut sets the effect to 0 alpha on the global output.

using CTRL+ALT+shortcut, applies the effect to a channel with alpha = 0.

hope this helps
