Blend Mode names need to be adjusted

Post by suzybee »

Helloo,

I use lots of different blend modes when i'm working with resolume, and i use a midi controller to scroll through them.
I have noticed that the visible portion of some of the blend modes is the same as other modes.
Specifically, the Luma Key name is visibly the same as Luma Key Inverse, and Difference is the same as Difference Inverse. (ie. you can only see "Luma K..." and "Differe...")

Although you can watch the image change to see the difference when you turn the assigned controller to change them, I certainly find that it would be much easier to see the name change so i know for sure i'm on the right one.
Also, you may want to change the layer blend mode before you bring the clip into the layer.

I would imagine that this would be fairly straightforward to sort.
You could change them to something like "LKey","LKey-I" and "Diff", "Diff-I".

Also,
is it possible to remove blend modes from the list that you know you'll never use?
For example, Cube is one I'd never use, and it would be handy to remove it from the list.

Equally, it would be cool to be able to customise the list for each blend mode list in each layer, so you only had the modes in each layer that you were likely to use specifically for that layer.
If i could access the blend modes for each layer, i could remove the ones i don't want to use in each layer and pop them in a "spare blend modes" folder.

That would be really groovy!!!
I'm loving avenue BTW, it's totally LUSH.

Yup. We figured people generally stick to their favourite three blend modes, or otherwise use the drop down, but we see this can be a problem. It's added to the list.

What?!?! Cube is kick ass ;)
Seriously, this is whole lot harder to implement. To do this from within the application veers pretty far from how Avenue works as an app. We'll look into it, but don't hold your breath waiting for it. Of course, if you really hate a blend mode, you could just delete it from the plugins folder, but that's far from recommended.

OMG, cubes are soo last century!

Ah, I thought the plugins folder was all effects -now i see them!
Do you think i would be able to pop the cube in a "maybe one day" folder on my computer, and if i ever change/lose my mind i could still put it back in the plugins folder and it would still work as a blend mode?
(Never say never, eh?).

Thanks for putting the names thing on the list.
On each layer, i keep 2 favourites on 2 of the blend mode buttons, and the top button i have as scroll-able.

No worries about the customising thing -i like to play with most of the blend modes anyway -sometimes you get unexpected results.

Thanks again Joris!
