K-Lite Codec Pac - Why is this not recommended?

Here and there on various forums K-Lite is not recommended.
Why is this? The warning usually doesn't give any details about what problems it is supposed to cause.
My presentation software is recommending the installation of this codec pack to allow wider video playback functionality, but I don't want it to kybosh R3.
Any thoughts\more details?
Thanks
Richard

because k-lite is normally a whole bunch of codecs packed in one, and although im not familiar with the specifics, when you start having lots of codecs on the same machine they tend to crash it...
things like even vlc, which only plays one video at a time, will make your machine crash...
now imagine a mixing software like resolume, trying to handle various codecs... pulling various graphics protocols... they are bound to cause conflict...
and that is all nice and fine to have in the computer from where you sample from, if you are dealing with various codecs from the videos you sample... but i wouldn't recomend storing your work on that machine, let alone go on a live performance on it...
even, as of my experience lately, visual studio and programming stuff can be very very bad to work with alongside your stored work... i for once am gonna buy a 3rd disk for storage only this weekend and keep my OS and apps in the older disk
if you notice somewhere on this website, they not only tell you not to use k-lite packs but also to, if you can, have a separate disk\OS instalation for live performance (since its not only k-lite and other codecs that cause conflicts and crashes)
while on that note, if your looking for a good disk from which to vj with, i can perfectly vouch for the recommended velociraptors performance wise, 89fps on hd-ready compositions... since then i've also learned that there are 15000rpm disks out there, so you might want to look into it...
