HUGE color disparity between 3.1.3 and 3.2.0

hi

i was just passing an idea (comb of two samples and 4 effects) i did on 3.1.3 to 3.2.0.... i couldnt figure out why was not looking right (since all the parameters were the same...) then i tryied opening the same avc file on both 3.1.3 and 3.2 trying to figure out waht was the problem and as soon as i turned everything off but this two effects...

there's a huge difference

the first half (darker result) is 3.1.3
the 2nd half (brighter) is 3.2

Image

its not even a question of not being alike, its that they are now completly diferent!!
and this messes with the color scheme of the hole thing i had.... i tried to mess around with the parameters but i cannot achive the same result

what might this be?
please help

edit: watch what it happens when i add the other two effects below
(still same avc file open on both)(again, the brighter skin color is 3.2 and the darker green is 3.1.3)

Hey Werlin

It's very hard to guess for us what may be causing this without a close look at the source files and your particular setup.

At first glance though, you could recreate the look you had on 3.1.3 by applying a static filter first, and then a colorize filter set to about 0.33 Hue and 0.6 Brightness.

if the objective was to generate static that would work pretty well, but as is the clips have to go through the inversion first and only then be degradated by the (colored)static so it comes out right on the treshold

and because the treshold is wrapped through fug's converter thingy it might be dodgy to see how the whole comp turns out on your end since you've got to wrap the plugins for every instalation\machine (you cant just copy them i think)

but you can try res3's invert rgb and static on both versions to see the results,

im on:
core 2 duo 2.33ghz
geforce 8600 gt
3gb ram
win7x32

well.. after two days to find a work around i got close results, through adding levels and B.C's and a solid color layer to deal with the inversion

wasnt until just now that i thought "what if its not the r3's version but the codec's?" so i reencoded the clips to dxv2 and seems to work a fantasticly better, much closer to home...

but as i said, still if you put invertRGB and static alone on compFx you still get different results, and my best guess is the "ADD" strength change, (because that change didnt affect "ADD" only, but also other blend modes, since it was probably made at the core and not to the "ADD" plugin itself)

so it might be a question of simply tuning blend modes down a bit
im now gonna go over it again
so more news on that after lunch i hope

ps:
so for all reading, remember, if you want to get the same old results be sure to reencode your clips because dxv2 decoder doesnt accept dxv1 very well...

well i was right, just a question of tunning down the parameters...

i was and i wasnt because if i turn the clips off there is still that orange-vs-green diference... as i said before i think it has to do with the range of the blend modes....

in 3.1.3 the staticfx in subtract, started to go near black at 50% (i had it a 25, so it wasnt even visible by itself)... and when i applied treshold after it was able to hold it at a dark green (with some orange still in there)

and now that the static only goes dark at 0% and it's skyrocketing the effect of the threshold... and it goes all orange

im just glad it was solvable, really didnt want to loose this combo
