multiple HD video outputs

Hello,
I am new to Resolume/Avenue 3 and after spending some time getting to know the program I just wanted to check and see what the best way to create multiple HD video (1920 x 1080) outputs are?
Any help would be much obliged,
Jordana

You'd need multiple dedicated separate graphics cards for that. Also one 1080p stream is already pretty taxing on most computers. Several at once is pretty hardcore. What are you trying to achieve?

Hello,
I do have multiple dedicated separate graphics cards (one of which is an ATI Radeon 4780).
I am just a little unclear (from the manual documentation) as to whether I am able to set up 2 video outputs to different screens both of which are playing full HD 1920 x 1080 videos.
If this is possible, how would you recommend setting it up?
Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Jordana

Hey Jordana
You can use the Advanced output options for this (in the Options menu). Set up a composition twice as wide as your clips, and trigger two clips each in to their own layer. Move the layers to the left and right using the layer properties. Then in the Advanced output option, have each graphics card render a half of the output.
I hope that makes sense. Let us know if it works for you!

Hello Joris,
Is there a way to isolate the two parts of the global screen in order that there are two totally independant screen ? Indee when you use some compositing (such as scale) the layer on the left overflow the layer on the right.
I work on 3D installations and need two perfectly synchronized flux.
Otherwise is it possible to launch simultaneously two global composition ?
I know the problem will be solved when it will be possible to apply layer masks after compositing and effects. Have you an idea when this functionnality will be implemented ?
Thank you in advance for your response !

Hey Yves-Marie
I think you're correct in assuming that this is only possible with post translation masks. At the moment this is in the works for Resolume 4.

Hello Joris,
Thank you for your answer.
Then I have two other questions:
1/ Would it be possible to control and to synchronize through OSC or midi flux two different sessions of Resolume 3 (with different port for each session) ? In thar way could it be possible to create stereoscopic effect having a first Resolume session for the left image and a second Resolume session for the right image. Or do you think I could encounter interference problems between the two sessions ? I work with a PC.
2/ Do you already have an approximate idea for the Resolume 4 release date ?

1. This should be possible. You can definitely send a signal to both computers to control two instances of Resolume at the same time. It's all dependent on the system hardware, and how tight you need the sync to be, if it will get the result you're after.
2. I'm afraid that's something we can't commit to. First we have a few bug fixes for 3.3 in the works. If you're planning the show now, you shouldn't count on the release coming out before the show.
I hope that answers your questions.

I will try this way (I work with one unique PC on which I will launch the two Resolume instances) and let you know how it works.
Do you know if there is an OSC command to control the position of the windowed display output (sending for instance the x/y coordinates ofthe upper left corner) ?
Is there also a way to suppress the border of the window in order to have just the display in the 1024x768 (for instance) active zone ? A bit like with the jit.window MAX/MSP/Jitter object ?
Thank you for your help.
All the best

I'm afraid we have neither of these options. Also, I may have misunderstood you. We have no experience with running two instances of Resolume on the *same computer*. I meant it should be possible to sync up two computers, and project using two projectors. Then you also wouldn't need these output options anymore.
