Hi There
Does anybody know if there are laptops for sale with a matrox videocard (for example g450 or g550 or parhelia). If not are there laptops versions of these cards, because they are great in a desktop pc, but a desktop is so heavy.

there are no matrox mobile chips available to by knowledge ... but why do you want a matrox? a new ati radeon is much faster, the image quality is comparable, good TV out and overlay support ...

I think the matrox g450 for example, has a better overlay support because the output of an Ati radeon is a bit smaller, because of some black borders around the tv out. I also think the matrox has better configuration settings, for example brightness, contrast and color for the tv-out. That's why I would like to buy a mobile matrox card, but if they don't exist, i think the shuttle plan is a good alternative like Superficial says. Do you have a shuttle superficial?
And if so doed it hace an agp-slot and SATA suppport for two Harddisks?

yes i have a schuttle.
i have a sb61g2 and a sb75g4 both have S-ATA possibilities.
never had regrets since i bought it.
its mobily its fast its expandable and it looks cool.... what more could u want
and the biggest advantage is u can put in a full sized AGP-card and a PCI card.
the cons are that u can only use one pci card
(but ethernet and firewie and usb are allready onboard)
and that u can also use only 2 HD's
(maybe desireable for RAID systems)
but that didnt weigh in that much for me i gues...

The new shuttles do support S-ata and have 1 AGP and 1 PCI slot.
If you plan to use the shuttle for VJ-ing only go for an ATI card, we have a really cheap one (I think the 9200, 128 MB, 49 EURO) and it really kicks @$$.
It's got some wacky drivers and confusing settings (we once had the desktop on our TV screen and the overlay on the TFT monitor :S ), but once figured out, it's FAST!
WE mainly have matroxes (in our shuttles) since we use the machines as production stations too, with dual monitors. If we ever buy VJ- only macines, they'll carry an ATI card
Furthermore I have to agree with SuperFicial on buying a shuttle. Better cooling, standard components (upgrading of the machine is easy and cheap!)

Overscan (the black edges on your video) have been fixed in the last couple of releases of the ATI Drivers.
