can't find this features

Hi to all...

I was playing around resolume and I can't find this features so I wander if this is possible with resolume at all,
if not here some ideas for your next update:

1.video speed changes with sound level input.
2.jumping to random position but not freezing the image, and with the option of time between jumps.
3. automatic clip triggering of movies in that layer with the options, random, time elapse, without a need of a outsource input.

is this possible already?? am I missing something??
now I'm going to take a look to the OSC ;)

best regards and thanks in advance

1. you can achieve via FFT and then choose the plus- or minus-symbol. it sort of works depending on the situation.
2. have a look here: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=7077
3. not yet (wave @ ResTeam ;) ) but you can use the MAX-patches copilot or sequencer for this purpose. Find it here: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=5239&p=21188&hilit ... lot#p21188 and here viewtopic.php?f=13&t=5398

2. I created a MAX patch that can do this for you. Get it here: RrrandomPlay 0.1

how!!! nice
this is really advance stuff, thanks a lot for the heads up... I'll give everything a try all day long.

by the way!! is there something like this for slideshow.... or in flash, I know there is one in QC but flash works in both OS. Or if anyone could direct me in the right way for some good tutorials in how to do it.

one more idea for you guru coders ... what do you thing about the possibility to show the song inf (name, artist, etc ) directly from the dj laptop like a rss feed or something. It could be by the form of video import from his desktop.
It could be nice for people to know what they are listening to.. information is power as you know ;)

thanks again for the help and best regards

what do you mean by slideshow? inside Avenue or inside flash/QC/MAX?
@VJair: you mean the rss-example that ships with QC? don't see how this reads the tracklist of a DAW.

Hi,

I managed to do a slidshow in QC with a very nice tut from here:
http://www.hybridvisuals.nl/category/tutorials/

but there is somethings I would like to add but I don't have the know how such as:
transition options, transition time, random order...

and I would like to have the same but in flash because it works on both OS... but for flash I didn't found any good tut yet.

The rss feed can't read directly from the DJ software so the ideia was to have a video stream in directly from the DJ desktop and than do a mask around the place where it show the track info... than we could display that information without the need of any of us writing it.

best regards and thanks for the help

If you want to do this in either flash or QC I suggest asking in a dedicated forum.
But you can achieve most of this via Avenue except the transition time. Just set up a comp with two layers and set either one of them to A or B. Then e.g. use the copilot MAX–patch to trigger the clips. I'll write a patch for the transition–time/–automation this weekend.

To me this sounds like a no go. I wouldn't want to have an image to be the information. I would want to have editable strings. That way you can process the data in different ways and of course the data is smaller and "easier" to use. Traktor for example has an option to export the playlist to either a playlist–file or to an HTML–document. I just read this here http://www.native-instruments.com/forum ... hp?t=62264. You could load this into QC and then send MIDI from Traktor to QC when the next clip gets triggered. I don't know Traktor too well so this is just an assumption. Still I wouldn't know how to make Traktor communicate whenever you load a new track into the playlist during a live–performance. Maybe reading the screengrab you suggested via an OCR–engine is a way? But still you would have to realign the position of the grab–area whenever the screen–resoltuion changes etc. Oh and I just read about Ableton Live API and JavaScript–support. So it's all about the application you use. I'd say there is no universal way to achieve what you want (correct me if I am wrong).

Hi there Tschoepler,

thanks for all the help, about the video stream in, I understand you prefer data instead of video, but I don't think a universal solution is possible like you say, every dj uses his one setup and tools, thats why I prefer to have the video live strem from his laptop, that way I could just have a mask of that stream and display the track inf like it appears to the DJ.

about the transition fader, it could be an update of you MAX patch ;)

have fun and thanks again

but isn't the trackinfo's font–size very tiny? and another thing: you can't scale it without getting some very nasty edges. I would try to get some OCR–engine translate the picture and then have the string sent via OSC. Because streaming video is not as easy as it sounds. I wouldn't know how to achieve this, sorry.

But, I just posted the first version of the auto crossfader: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=7128&p=26939#p26939
