Recording Problems

I am trying to record a short demo set and having great difficulty.

The longer I record, the lower my frame rate goes until around 8 - 9 minutes (the set is to be 11 min) Resolume crashes completely.

I am using two layers of footage, and a third for a single audio clip + 2 effects on my output. All footage is rendered using the DXV codec at 640 x 480. Footage is on an external HD connected via Firewire 800 and the recording is to another HD connected via Firewire 400.

My initial frame rate is around 45 fps, then as soon as I load a longer clip (16 seconds) it drops to about 35. I start recording and adding two effects and the frame rate drops to 25, and the longer it goes the lower it goes until about the 8th minute of recording, by which it is under 20 and then a complete crash.

This is very frustrating and I would appreciate any help or advice with this problem.

My set-up is as follows:

Resolume Avenue 3.1.3
Toshiba Qosmio G35
Dual Centrino Processor - T2400 @ 1.83GHz
3Gb Ram
Geforce Go 7300

Thanks,

Patrick

It seems that Fraps is the best way to record, but it's still tricky to get a reasonable frame rate.

i'd try and record to an external hard disk recorder and also i would download the latest version of Avenue. its 3.3 and there have been bug fixes and i believe (dont quote me) that they have looked at and improved the record function.

Also what fps do you get when you play with out recording? do you ever have an issues or is it just when you use the record function.

are all of your clips dxv? which version of DXV have you encoded with. there is a new update which is 2.1 - might not make much difference but could also try it. maybes re-encode them?
