Record problems

Hello !
I have problems when I try to record my clips with Resolume, but maybe it's because it's HD. I'm looking for a real solution.
I want to record one clip at a time, one layer to import them into Final Cut Pro and edit them as a video clip.
I used to put my vids in DXV but honestly, I don't see a big difference so I let them in native codecs.
For example, I have a clip about 180 Mo, 1920 x 1080, Codecs Apple ProRes 422. 3 effects : bright contrast, hue rotator and pixels shape.
I have a MBP, 2,93 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8Go memory 1067 MHz DDR3 and the video clips are on my external hard drive (Fire wire 800)
When I play it in Resolume, it begins to slow down but when I want to record it, it slows down, stops for a second (as a stop motion) and sometimes, resolume just quit.
My question is : is it really possible to record in HD or do I have to quit this idea with my material and try something smaller ? And if it's possible to record in HD, how do I get something "smooth"
As I told, I've tried with DXV compressor but I don't see a big change when I record.
Thanks to those who will answer me
Have a nice day
