easy way to halve/quarter loop?

hi.
for some of my movie clips i want to loop certain bits of them but the loop start end points cannot be halved and moved to the grid (like in ableton).
as my video material is very rhythmic i need to be able to loop at beat measurements, not endless points...
is there anyway to do this?
thanks

sounds like you need some kind of beatgrid like ableton / traktor / other software... there isnt one, but it would be a great idea!

exactly like that! otherwise some sort of indication in numbers to where the slider is in relation to the end (1)..
then you could say i want from 0.25 to 0.75 and that would be the middle half... you follow?

Sounds like you want to look into Open Sound Control. With OSC you can set the in and out point, as well as the playhead position, all within an 0-1 range.

can you be a little bit more specific. do you mean find a controller with osc and adjust the loop start/end like that?

controlling the In and Out point with OSC is a big pain with resolume. Since the "in", "out" and "play head" are all controlled by the same string. instead of each parameter being controlled separate.
/layer#/clip#/audio/position/values f
Perhaps it works when sending an array like (0,1,1) NO way to do that with with program like TouchOSC, but as far as I know that string only works for the playhead anyway. I have been unsuccessful controling IN and OUT points with OSC.
apricotandpearjam, if you don't have any knowledge of OSC the best way to describe it is a new and improved version of midi that is more customizable. the most popular program is TouchOSC. it allows custom layouts to control any software that supports OSC (i.e. resolume 3)
What about the beatloopr? does that loop the section of the clip you want. should work as long as your clips are in BPM mode. or are you trying to keep the middle point of your clip by moving the in and out closer together?

actually beatlooper is probably the best idea.... the only thing is i need it for mapping so i cant leave it on.
maybe i could record and render the movie with the beatloopr on.
how could i just record the amount of video i need i.e 1/2 or 1/4 bar?
good idea though!!!!!
