Trouble mapping BCF2000 fader

Hello all. New to the board, also new to vj'ing and midi maps

So here's the hardware breakdown: Resolume Ave 3.3.1, BCF2000, sony Vaio VPCEC, ati radeon hd5650, 4 gb ram, etc etc etc

where I'm running into trouble is when mapping my bcf2000's faders. I am trying to map layer opacity to individual faders. i set the mode to 'Absolute', as i should do with a fader, but when i attempt to use it, the fader is ultra sensitive. when sliding the fader from bottom to top, i scroll through 0-100% opacity about eight times. There is no 'Step' function that I can change in absolute mode, so I dont know what to do.

Anybody have any help they can offer? Better yet, anybody have a full midi map I could borrow to tweak on my own (mainly to help me get acquainted with mapping)? Thanks for any help

That's odd indeed. Are you sure the fader is sending out midi-cc's in the 0-127 range?

yeah, the first slider is sending out a midi CC of 32, the next 33, etc

im not sure where the trouble is coming from

You can tweak the bcf200 quite a bit, perhaps the faders are calibrated differently? Does it work correctly on other sliders in resolume, or in other apps?

im not sure how i would go about calibrating the BCF. unfortunately no, i havent used it on any other applications, and actually dont have any applications to do so on, so i dont really have a reference. At one point, though, i did have it mapped properly to a composition that would allow me to adjust opacity by sliding the fader from top to bottom, where it worked correctly. Unfortunately i didnt save the composition, then opened a new one on top of it, so i lost the proper mapping.

What about sliders other than opacity?

all sliders act the same, no matter the function they're mapped to. in fact, it goes from 0-100% about five times in a quarter inch. the sensitivity of it is ridiculous

If we want to get to the bottom of this, we're going to need to figure out if it's Resolume or the controller which is acting up. Can you use an app like midiOx to check the actual midi data that the faders are sending?

yes, i can use midiox, but im pretty lost as to what to do with it. im relatively sure this is the fader's fault, not resolume's. (i want to thank you again, for all your help)

You can use MidiOx to monitor the incoming midi traffic, so we can check if the BCF2000 is sending the right signals or not.

But maybe it's a good idea to do a factory reset on the BCF first:
1. Turn the device off and on again.
2. Press the ‘Edit’ and the ‘Exit’ buttons on your BCF2000 simultaneously.

The BCF2000 is now in the default state again, and you can check whether Resolume now responds correctly.
