Animated gif workflow

What’s the best way to get animated gifs into Resolume? I’ve got a party coming up that needs videogame/8bit stuff, and single animated character gifs seem to be the only option for what I have in mind.

I’ve tried using Vegas but I can’t get clean pixels when I export (tried DXV and Animation codecs).
After Effects (after first converting to avi with VirtualDub) has the same problem.

The VirtualDub avi is clean and sharp, just what I need – but it doesn’t seem to support alpha and puts a green background in.

This feels like it ought to be terribly simple, but I’ve spent a few hours and can’t work it out! Has anyone else encountered the same problem?

I know it’s been stated before that animated gifs aren’t and won’t be supported (‘We won't be supporting the animated GIF format, just too much work for a niche feature like that.’). but I can’t see any alternatives for video game style stuff. It’s frustrating that full gif support is being dropped all over the place when there is as yet no replacement.

Ask and ye shall receive... maybe a couple years late for your gig tho ;)

play ANY GIF IN RESOLUME, with support for transparency and animation. Use a GIF as a standalone loop, or use the particles feature to layer a cloud of GIFs or PNGs in your VJ sets!

There's also a promo code "newProductImgFX", 25% off the gif/image loop package
