recently purchased this laptop specifically for Avenue:
ASUS G73Sw-A1
http://www.jr.com/asus/pe/ASU_G73SWA1/

VERY happy with the performance/specs/price on a 1080p 17.3" screen.

the 2 500gb hard drives are easy access to switch out for ssd's

on it's maiden voyage it ran straight for 2 multi-show days. 5 layers of 720p-1080p dxv content.
had to stack about 15 effects on plus 5 layers of hd to make it drop to 30fps
large decks load fast.
has a usb3 port for the future - no lock ups - runs cool thanks to it's LARGE rear exhaust system.

oh yes... and blu-ray for the downtime. ;)

unfortunately, a good chunk of bloatware...grrr....

highly recommend for avenue as a desktop replacement

got a picture of the G73Sw at the show... not very good as the 60 MAC 101's are blinding out the center video screen in the picture...

i use the patched visualstyle for windows 7; APPOWS2010 (WORK variation) that i downloaded from deviantart:

http://browse.deviantart.com/customizat ... /#/d2lhrrb

blends PERFECTLY with the resAVE interface...

I thought about buying this same model, but it has no firewire and no expresscard and I still need to be able to access my older miniDV & 8mm tapes. Thanx for the review, though.

hi digital:snot,

i got the Asus G73SW-TZ146V, I think it's almost the same laptop...
But for my part I have a little trouble, some loops freeze up unexpectedly, the timeline continues its path and the loop restarts the right place, could you tell me how you organize your data or optimized your pc ..? would you have replaced the existing hard drives with SSDs?
I installed the software on the system disk and loops on my second hard drive, all encoded dxv ...
I must prepare for a set soon in 1920x480, hoping someone can help me ...
thanks in advance..
