How to work with alpha channel

Hello,
I am having a problem using the Alpha channel. (Latest DXV codec version and Resolume installed)
I have quicktimes made from png sequences that have "direct" alpha. I convert these files to the DXV codec and the codec preserves the alpha channel just fine.
But now: How do I playback in Resolume USING this channel?
The most logical thing to me would be using "alpha" in the layer blend mode. But no alpha happening for me. At 100% the alpha is simply black. Going down with the slider does some kind of transparancy but no Alpha to be seen... How does it work?
Thanks a lot!
Florian
P.S. By now I figured out that there is the alpha channel button which you can toggle on and off, but that doesn't change the situation. I would think with the Alpha channel "off" and Add blend mode 100% the layer below should be visible where the alpha is. But it is not. The same clip works fine in Aftereffects. It has the alpha layer and everything below it is visible! What blend mode is to be used?
Thanks!
Florian
