or SAPPHIRE HD 6950 FleX 2GB GDDR5

I know they are good for gaming, what about VJ?

I'm not sure but a 2gb card certainly sounds good. have you searched the forum? :)

As a rule of thumb, if it's good for gaming, generally it's good for VJ'ing as well. It's all about getting the highest fps with displaying images.

The advantage of a 2GB card over a 1GB card is roughly 1GB ;-)

I have the Sapphire HD6950-2gb gpu, and I am very pleased with it so far, having upgraded from the HD5770, an excellent beginner's gaming card indeed.

As far as the 1gb vs 2gb, the price difference is small-@$30USD, and surprisingly, the 1gb version is slightly faster than the 2gb, though that small lead disappears completely once you include multiple-monitors. And, as has been mentioned, the 2gb gives you much better headroom for future developments and Crossfire abilities.

I recommend it, though I don't VJ, as I think a good gaming rig would also handle VJ duties admirably, having powerful tools to address the properties of both. And the Sapphire version is very cool running, with excellent power-handling, ( My PSU-Corsair tx650w, is AMD-certified to run 2 HD6950s in x-fire!) and has lots of OCing potential, especially using the Sapphire Trixx GPU monitor program, found at their website. ( Highly recommended!)
