anybody taken these for a spin? seems like a cool idea with part ssd drive part normal hard drive, perfect for a laptop too while still giving you the capacity at a cheap price

got 2 of these since 2 weeks, one in my old mbp, the other in my bigger vj-pc.
It's faster than a normal harddrive if it learnd what you use often.
For Clip vjing it may be also a good solution, but especially as system drive it's a good alternative to the expensive ssd's!

yeah i run off a dell studio xps laptop which is pretty powerful for processing and have a 7200 hard drive in it however it can throw a wobbly with clips. thinking this will learn the os is used heavily and cache most of that if used as a system drive then use the esisting drive on esata for clips etc. the other option is to run it the other way round off my esata port and just have all the clips on there, hmmm decisions decision

i would suggest you to buy a monumentus xt and first try it on esata with your clips...
if it's fast enough you have a portable drive and hopefull enough space

i don't think that a 7200rpm 3,5" would run better, it's not that much faster and you won't need it expect you use very long clips or clips with high bandwith. maybe a western digital raptor drive really makes a difference especially in latency.

it's a bit poor there is only 4gb.. but okay it's not an ssd... and the 4gb are slc (not cheaper mlc chips).

if you can't use it for your clips then use it as system drive! really love them in my systems... small often used programs are starting like on an ssd and the drive itself is also compareable to a 3,5" drive
