how do i convert xvids or divxs to a faster codec,more easily playable on resolume,which soft should i use,maybe also a fast avi slitter?i have tons of xvids which i'd really want to use in resolume.please help

Please do not use xvids or divx with resolume, the video file are too much compressed (mpeg4).
The best way to solve your issue is to encode your videos with Cinepak or Indeo codecs.
You may use Canopus ProCoder or any video editing software to do it (such as AfterEffects, Premiere Pro, etc...)
