Hi! Im in a bit of a hurry..

Id like to purchase Resolume 4 with the offer before it ends on january 1st. But I have technical problems with my pc right now, and can not run the demo. I want to use Resolume to create short animated clips (1 - 5mins) in full HD, and later patch them together in After Effects. Is the quality good enough for broadcast use? Not for cinema, but TV.

I'll try and answer this the best i can.

First have you got Resolume working on your computer?
What resolution are you intended to VJ with? - You've mentioned HD but there are a few variations in size.
You mention broadcast so will these clips be shown on TV?

For best playback results its usually best to use the Resolume codec which is DXV.

Recording internally will work but i think its a better idea to use an external capture device.

I hope this of some help.

Hello Basic, and thank you for the reply!

To night I reinstalled and repaired my PC, and are now running Win7, 64bit.

1. I have recorded a rock band with a Canon 60D. I want to process it further in Resolume 4 (demo for now)
2. The film is imported into After Effects, and from there exported as Quicktime with the DXV codec.
3. The DXV file is then imported into Resolume 4 demo.
It runs nicely with a few effects: arround 60 fps measured with Fraps. Using Resolumes internal recording droped the fps down to arround 5-10. Pretty much unusable. But Fraps manage to record it smoothly in full HD with 30 fps! There was however some glitch distortion in a few frames from the Fraps recording. I will investigate further tomorrow, but it looks promising so far.

The HD (camera and TV) standard is 1920 x 1080
30 fps in USA (NTSC) and 25 fps in Europe (PAL)

This project is not intended for a VJ show, its intended as a music video for Youtube and TV.

Wow, sounds like your pretty much sorted. Yeah i didn't think of the Fraps route as i like to use a hardware solution when recording an output - as this us usually from a mixer for me.

From what you've said i don't see there being a problem with using it for Broadcast and especially not for youtube. The Resolution and frame rate read great so no issues to be had that i can see.
