Random seems not so random

When I let a Video with Sound randomly jump between beats, it seems not really random. It just jumps in between a small range of the timeline.

The behavior is indeed not 100% random, but it's what's called a 'random walk'. The playhead will stumble through a section of beats, zigzagging forwards and backwards through the timeline. It's also referred to as a 'drunken walk', if that makes more sense to you

...so that means that you will rename the R Button to D(runk) button?

Perhaps you are experience this:

There's a video demonstrating the issue in that thread.

Yes and No. It drifts on the timeline forward (so it´s really a drunken walk

- nice comparison by the way) and it also jumps only around an close area around the playhead. Is this really such a problem to program a real random number? That´s really interesting (I´m no a programmer so such things are fascinating). I only know the random number CODE in After Effects and it always returns a real random number between 0 and 1. Anyway I read you are on it - so Good Luck
