problem playing mjpeg movs

just installed a new system (hackintosh) and i can play mjpeg quicktimes in everything - madmapper, vdmx, vlc, quicktime (7 and x), previews are ok, but not avenue (4.01) just an x in the previews and no output. sound output works for clips with sound. i installed perian, so i can even play avis with indeo in avenue but not mjpeg movs. they were originally a straight conversion from mjpeg avis in quicktime x. they all work fine in avenue on my mbook pro.
