Hey Guys,
I'm searching for a smart solution! Maybe you have it!?
I want to connect a webcam wich it placed 50m away from me to my computer. How would you do it?
Which specific gear would you use?

Well, I would use a simple USB capture card (composite video), and any camera with AV out. A 50 m. coaxial cable will be cheaper than a 50m USB extension cable (if even exist)

Hmm.. I have no capture card and no simple DV Cam..... But I have CAT cable 8-)

I've made a lot of research today... and here is my result:

You need a USB Extender wich supports the full Bitrange of USB 2.0 ...not easy to find.. but here it is!

the Gefen box works well, I used it to send data a fair distance a couple years ago. I don't know how it would do with a video image, i think it will introduce some latency, as I noticed when i used the gefen box the response time was slow.

I'd second teh capture device, and a camera with composite out, it will be cheaper, and work better.

look into box type security camera's especially one with interchangeable lenses, then you have more available positions for your camera. As for USB capture, I have an Easycap, works well with my PC, and did work well with Resolume 3, but doesn't seem to work with R$ on OSX?
