question about recording

If I am listening to a track played simply through windows media player and mixing my clips with my controller, will the resolume record function allow me to record a file of the mixture somehow. I see that in the preferences it asks for audio and video. Or would it be dramaticly better to just drop the audio wave file into resolume and compose it in that fashion? and will it then record both?.. Thanks ahead of time guys. I know I have been asking a serries of noob questions but I am making leagues of progress. Thank you..

I'm not to sure if you can do that. Are you able to bring the audio file into resolume and record that way? - that would be my first thought.

Also have you tested anything btw?

Yea, I just tested to see if it would work with just the track playing externally to resolume, and It will not work ( I was assuming that resolume could pick up whatever the auidio card was processing but I think that this does not work this way. As for the other method of dropping it into the software itself, the wave gets warped somehow and winds up way to slow and I cannot seem to figure out what the obvious setting problem is on that one. Thanks for the response... I will try to figure that out now. Any ideas? thanks

The record function records what Resolume is outputting via it's own engine (so if you have no audio running in Resolume, there is nothing to record).

I think, when you drop the audio clip into Resolume it defaults to BPM Sync for the transport, changing this to Timeline mode should fix any warping

yeah DirtyJohn said it better than i could.

I was going to mention BPM sync too. Chances are it will be syncing to that, do you affect the bpm much?
