auto pilot speed for solid color?

Hey guys and gals,
I'd like to map some letters with solid color (source fx) and a mask and then animate them with the auto pilot.
My idea was to just start the auto pilot and the letters are getting displayed one by one. But: I can't change the speed and because its a solid color clip, it will last for five seconds or so which is just too much.
Any idea how to solve this and change the trigger / animation speed?
