Hi guys,

I just got this badboy and it's rad except Resolume doesn't seem to recognize the tap tempo button when I'm mapping it. Also, the top 8 buttons under the sliders don't seem to work either but they ARE recognized and mapped but that's a different problem...

any help would be awesome thanks!

You don't really provide enough info to really help you (for instance: which controller button are you trying to map to tap tempo).

Usually the problem is that buttons are sending notes (and not CCs).

I am experiencing the same problem. Like OP said, the "Tap Tempo" button on the APC 40 MK2 which is next to the "Tempo" knob. On Resolume the "Tap" button next to "Resync" theoretically should work same as the APC 40 button because it's just clicking it with the mouse. That's what I'm gathering from what he is saying and my own experience. The settings only have Channel and Note for button midi commands, so there isn't anything there I saw to change to get it to work.

Anyway that's my two cents. I'm getting with someone next week. If I figure it out, I'll post here.

I got one of the older MPD 32's not the MK II.
The way I use my old one if it's at all similar (I hope so because I plan on getting a updated one since I hate the pads)

In Resolume preferences > Midi
Check the boxes midi input and the box clock input.

Hit stop then play on the transport buttons on the MPD.
This is necessary to start sending clock midi data.

The MPD should have it's own internal clock. When you tap out a tempo on the MPD it will adjust its own clock inside the controller and forward that clock to Resolume's BPM. You can also dial in a tempo with the encoder nob on the controller with almost zero latency to Resolume.

You don't need to actually map the button to Resolumes tap button like I found out when I got my APC 40 MkII.
The sorta cool yet sorta useless feature depending on how you look at it is you can take the midi clock out of a MDJ and plug it into the input on the MPD and set the MPD's internal clock to external. This will pass the tempo from the MDJ to Resolume through your controller as an option. It wont be deadly accurate but if you got a super long show and you want BPM I just let the MDJ calculate the bpm for me so I can focus on clips and effects.

It's funny because my experience with this was the opposite of both yours.

Even tho the OP is mia. For anyone else curious.

I did get a mpd232 here and messed with the internal and even external clock with resolume.
It sends internal clock messages to Resolume the same way as I described the mpd32 does.

It will also take a clock from another machine if the mpd232 is set external in the globals and forward that to resolume if you enable to correct port for the clock. It should be set in the resolume preferences to port 1 for midi and port 3 for clock if you want want to pass the clock through the mpd.

The sequencer seems to not work to my current knowledge with resolume when set to external. But whatever its hardly useful for vjing. The pads are noticeable improvement over the mpd32 though.

I plan on running this with a apc40 in another usb channel. Gives me the options on how I want to run bpm out of a mixer also pads, 8 more faders, and nobs can always be put to use. Oh and color LED data for your pads is stored on the controller so no need for bomes.
