Good afternoon,

We are testing with resolume arena 4.
We are using resolume arena 4 with video's triggered by SMPTE.
Everything is working fine but, but the output video is "hikking".

We are use a intel machine with dual core and 2Gb, the CPU is all the time around 80%

Now we are looking to buy a new pc system.
Can anybody advise me what we have to buy so that we know for sure that the video's are running smoothly

Hi janbackx,
this should work for you.
- a new Intel Core i5 or i7 (quad for enough systemspare)
- use a SSD Drive
- 8GB RAM (Resolume only uses max. 3GB but with 8GB you have enough spare for your System)
- important for a smooth playback >> Use the DXV codec
- Graficcard..hmm... you don't need the highend cards from AMD or NVIDIA.. but you should choose one of their midrange. And if you have the choice... choose an NVIDIA card for a bit less trouble.

Hope that helps.

thanx for your reply.

What type of graphic card do you advise.

For smooth playback waht is more importent: a better cpu or a better graphical card ?

...a better graficcard would be a better weapon for smooth playback...assuming you use DXV codec...it takes his power out of the GPU and not the CPU.

Graficcards I would advice..hmmm.. I can tell you that I made good jobs with the HD6850 ...and with the GTX580... and every card between them should make a good job.

Have Fun!

No it does not come with quicktime itself. It comes with the installation of Resolume....or you can download it here: LINK!

Yes it is!...now you only have to encode all your videoclips to DXV... How you do that?! Forumsearch :D !

don't want to make a religious hardware war...
but for example an amd processor with 4 to 8 cores is enough for running Resolume live.
The Point is if you also want a Board with many pci-e 16x slots you can buy 2 amd instead of 1 intel System for the same price.
expect for hackintosh and every-day work i would prefer a amd system!

graphic card i also would suggest NVidia (althought the newest 300 driver series also isn't the best so far, i use older drivers!)

I would also suggest Nvidia graphics cards.

If you get something in the GTX600 range, you are able to use all four outputs at once.
