Hey I'm very new to this kind of programming but really want to learn to use as part of an art installation I'm working on for uni. What I would like to know is can I insert images into Resolume and make them change size/opacity/colours in response to live audio input. And is it possible to learn before my two week deadline?

You can learn that in just 5 minutes. Take a look at the manual.
size/opacity can be configured in the Transform module, or using the frTransform plugin.
For color changes you need to apply the Hue Rotate or Colorize filters.
