I use a Alienware 17 r4 with the 1080 and 7820hk and i have no issues with it atm, things a beast, it does more than i need it to and then sum, had a few issues when i bought it with having to disable the intel graphics,and disabling the realtek audio,but now its great!
side note - we use a x4 ...

Maybe you have to use the egpu only and not your laptop monitor? Your egpu card would give you 4 outputs, use one for a monitor (for the resolume interface) and the other three as outputs, if you plug a monitor into the egpu your laptop would be running of the intel if im not mistaken?

I'm running a r4 17 with the 1080, i don't have optimus (I do believe it's on the 1070 and lower) and the laptop Is a beast... So far 0 real issues that weren't fixable. Had to disable Intel video. And make it run solely off the 1080, and uninstall realteck audio drivers.... So far that's it..... On ...

Hi, Is there a way to be able to cycle up or down the layers with midi? id like to have A rotary knob I could map and turn to change the highlighted selected layer

@drazker: yes i would like to use the dashboard controls for visual feedback effects that encompass the whole composition, no its not important but if it was a option it would have made my controller map a little cleaner thats all.

lol sadly yes @Oaktown I only have 8, which are mapped with the selected layer on, so i cannot use them with the composition dashboard controls. If when you select composition it un-selects the layers it would work no? Or is there a reason one layer always needs to be selected at any given time?

Be cool if the Clear layer button(stop clip button) blinks only when there is a clip connected and playing (using a apc40mk2)

Yes one at a time, that i know, but the new ability to copy the "effect stack" from clip to clip is awesome! But it's not a available option for the Layers,
