flash connecting to internet problem

Post by armitageshanks »

first off check this out:http://incubator.quasimondo.com/flash/flickeur.php

the swf file can be downloaded here:http://incubator.quasimondo.com/flash/flickeur.swf

once loaded into resolume and put in a layer it freezes on the title sequence. is this a bug in resolume that flash is not allowed to connect to the internet to access the images from flickr.com or is this simply not possible?

if it can be sorted this would open up a whole world of possibility as effectively the internet can be used as a live stream plus quasimondo has a shedload of other great stuff based on the same idea.

cheers,

Hi armitage,
We tried a similar project before and had troubles as well. It has todo with permissions.
The thing is that you need to configure the flash player to let this .swf access the internet.
Just open your .swf in the normal flash player and a window will popup asking you to change some settings to allow internet access.

But i can't get your animation to run on my machine in the normal flash player, it keeps saying that flash maybe performs an unsafe operation. And i can 't find any settings that solve this.

Cheers
Edwin

cheers for getting back so quick edwin.

i have managed to get the swf file to play in the flash stand alone player on both windows and mac by right clicking whilst it is open, choosing settings then going to the camera and microphone tab, and then clicking on advanced. a new browser windows should then pop up you should then click on global security settings panel on the left. then in the app on the right you can change the settings to allow particular files. if you choose flickeur.swf, it will then work in the stand alone flash player.

i've got this far but once added to a layer in resolume it still freezes on the title sequence which makes me think that the problem lies with resolume rather than flash.

cheers
